The story of Oswa perfumes

At Oswa, we’ve never just sent an order for the sake of it.

We always wanted each order to arrive with a feeling.

A touch of care.

A small detail that quietly says, “We’re paying attention.”

And over time, the questions started to increase:

What’s the name of this fragrance?

What do you use on orders?

And the truth is…

The story began without any planning.

We never once thought this scent would become a product.

But when the questions multiplied, we faced a question far more important than the order itself:

Is it even possible to create a fragrance?

Oswaa doesn’t sell just anything.

Oswaa has never done anything simply for the sake of selling.

With every step we take, we ask ourselves:

Does this reflect who we are?

Does it complement our mission?

Or could it make us deviate from what we believe in?

And the biggest question was: Does the fragrance align with the principles of modesty we uphold? The Islamic ruling… clearly and without ambiguity

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“Any woman who perfumes herself and then passes by a group of men so that they smell her fragrance is an adulteress.”

— Narrated by An-Nasa’i and authenticated by Al-Albani

The hadith is clear.

There is no room for interpretation.

The meaning here is:

Any perfume a woman wears and goes out of her home is not permissible according to Islamic law.

Not just strong perfume.

Not just a strong perfume.

Not even a subtle perfume.

The point is not the intensity of the scent,
the point is its presence outside the home.

And what about cleanliness?

Cleanliness is required,
and Islam is a religion of purity.

But we must differentiate between:

Personal hygiene (no odor)

And perfume that leaves a trace and can be smelled

Perfume:

Even if it’s light

Even if it’s subtle

Even if your intention isn’t to attract attention

As long as there are any unrelated men present
→ It’s not permissible

The ruling here is related to the action,
not the intention.

When is perfume permissible?

Perfume is permissible for women only in:

Inside the home

In front of close male relatives

Only among women

In private places where there are no unrelated men present

Otherwise?

No.

This isn’t strictness,
it’s a clear adherence to the text.

Why is “Oswa Perfume” not like any other perfume?

Because from the beginning, we set clear boundaries.

We didn’t create a perfume that:

Precedes its wearer

Or is used in public

Or is part of a public outing

“Oswa Perfume” was created:

For private use

In spaces that are religiously permissible

As part of personal grooming, not for show

Just like Oswa’s clothing: Modesty before it’s about appearance
And tranquility before it’s about attracting attention

Perfumes for women… and perfumes for men

We decided to have a line:

Women’s: For private use only

Men’s: For public use

Because the rulings are different,
And the guidelines are different.

In short:

Religious commitment isn’t deprivation
Or strictness
Or complication

It’s clarity
And honesty with oneself
And respect for God’s limits

And the girl who chooses complete modesty
In her clothing and her actions
Is choosing peace of mind
Before anything else

“Oswa Perfume” isn’t just a perfume.

It’s a conscious choice…
Like everything we do at Oswa.
