In the mall…and my heart can’t find itself

The mall is full of lights and noise…

All the shops are gleaming with showcases, pictures of girls on the ads, and words like: “Latest Fashion – Summer Discounts – Bold Style.”
I entered a large store and flipped through the shelves… All the items were tight, with bright colors or eye-catching work.

The saleswoman came quickly with a wide smile:
— “Do you want something trendy? This style is on fire! Try to get away from the abaya style…”

I replied, my smile embarrassed:
— “I’m looking for something long and wide… Isn’t there a modest selection?”

She looked at me in surprise:
— “Where do you mean wide? These are all summer styles… You have to keep up! Why are you so constricted?”

I was silent for a while and continued flipping through…
I felt the stares of some of the girls around me—looks of surprise or disapproval.
Each one was trying on in the booth, then came out to say:
— “Are there still girls who dress like this?!”

In At that moment, a voice inside me said:
“I may return without a bag full of dresses… but I’ll leave with more confidence in my choices.
Moderation isn’t shameful… and even if I can’t find it here, there are brands that support girls like me.”

As I was leaving the mall, I saw a college freshman wearing a chic abaya. She raised her hand from afar and said:
—”I like your style!

Where did you find the store?”

I laughed heartily… and I told her, “Of course, from Oswa
