🌴 The palm tree trunk that yearned for the Prophet ﷺ

In the Prophet’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him), before the pulpit… there was a simple palm trunk.

No precious stone, no inscription, no apparent sanctity.

Just a trunk… standing in silence.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand upon it and deliver sermons.

He would speak, teach, and guide the people.

Until the Companions suggested building a pulpit for him. And when the pulpit was built… the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left the trunk.

And then the unexpected happened.

🔊 A sound in the mosque.

The Companions heard a sound of weeping. A clear sound. Not an emotion. Not an illusion.

The trunk was moaning… like a child who has lost its mother’s embrace.

The whole mosque fell silent.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) descended from the pulpit, went to the trunk, and embraced it with his hand. The noble one.

And then…

The trunk calmed down.

💔 Why did the trunk weep?

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“It yearned for the remembrance of God it heard.”

Meaning:

It yearned for its closeness to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and for the remembrance of God that emanated from it.

A trunk.

A palm tree.

Wood.

But it understood the value of being close to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

🌱 The message is for us:

If a palm trunk yearned…

Our hearts are more deserving of yearning.

And if something inanimate wept for the separation from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)…

We are more deserving of love and following.

This story is not just a miracle.

It is a message:

True closeness is not in appearance.

Nor in location.

Closeness is in the impact.

We at Uswa believe in something simple:

That the calming impact… is what It’s preferable.

Not the high-profile one.

Not the flashy one.

Not the noisy one.

Like the palm tree trunk:

Its appearance wasn’t distinctive,

But its proximity immortalized it in history.

And modesty…

Isn’t just clothing.

Modesty has an impact.

A quiet presence.

And a lasting value.

The palm tree trunk taught us:

That whoever loves truly… feels.

And that closeness to truth has an effect even on inanimate objects.

And if the trunk yearns…

We are more deserving of examining our hearts.

Is there anything in your life that you felt at peace when you got close to it?

Not because it was flashy…

But because it was genuine?
