A new batch… and a steady heart
The first day of college… My heart danced between nervousness and excitement.
All the girls were standing on the stairs, taking selfies, laughing out loud, lots of colors and different styles.
I took my first step into college, wearing a loose and Khamar from Oswa Brand that made me feel safe.
I heard one of them from afar:
— “Is she going to a wedding or a lecture?”
I laughed to myself…
I know that Islamic dress can sometimes make you feel like you’re taking a daily exam.
But inside I was certain:
“I chose to be this way, and I will stay this way.”
In the lecture, I sat alone for a while.
A nice girl approached and said:
— “I love your style… You look confident!”
I was delighted by the words… I started to get to know her, and we talked about clothing, school, and life.
Some girls came in asking:
— “Don’t you get bothered by what people say? Don’t you want to dress like the other girls?”
I said calmly:
— “Everyone She has her own way of life.
I’ve found my comfort here… and I don’t have to be like everyone else to be happy.
At the end of the day, I felt more admiration than criticism…
And a new girl sent me a message on WhatsApp:
— “Your words encouraged me to wear whatever makes me comfortable, no matter how different it is.”
As I returned home, I smiled to myself…
Every day at university is a challenge,
but every day, another girl finds a “role model” in you.
Have you faced a situation at university because of your clothing?
Have you found support, criticism, or even a new friendship because of your choice?
Tell us about a day that impacted you… or write a word of encouragement to a girl entering a new college or school.
Your words could open a door of hope in many hearts!
